It is obvious that Mike Reiss is funny even while in physical pain, that he treasures his wife, and that he has an enviable level of freedom. Keep traveling, Mike, and keep telling us about it.
Mike Reiss is hilarious and poignant in his bird's eye view of one of the world's wonders.
Mike spared us the dull details, and shares only the highlights, insights, and funny stories in this quick read. Now I can cross this climb off my bucket list.
Super-quick read with many laugh out loud moments. I love hiking and the outdoors so ...somehow... I found it even more funny. haha
Reiss takes you places only he possibly can. Okay, maybe some other writer can take you there, but they won't see the same things Reiss shares, and they won't entertain you nearly as well. In fact, I suggest a rule If Reiss wrote it, buy it. You'll certainly get a whole lot more than your 99 cents worth with "I Conquered Kilimanjaro... Nearly!"
Mike kept me in stitches laughing.
Plus I love a book you can read
in the waiting room of the chiropracter's
office as I did.
(My appointment had been slightly
delayed to wait for an ambulance,
as the previous patient apparently
could not get up after their treatment.)
Mike Reiss' fine chronicle made
me stop worrying and enjoy my
all too brief time on this earth.
Many laughs!
While I'm sure this was meant to be humorous--and a few parts really were funny, it was mostly a cynical, negative read that left me rather empty. To take on a such a transformative and potentially life-changing experience as hiking Kilimanjaro and find no beauty, humor, culture, or interest whatsoever in the experience was sad, indeed.
